An upcoming exhibition of works by Australian sculptor Mela Cook opens on Friday 9 October 2026, with an opening event from 6pm to 8pm, and runs until 8 November 2026.
The exhibition features works from Cook’s recent ‘Women in Action’ series, celebrating sportswomen through dynamic studies of movement and strength. Working predominantly in bronze, Cook creates finely detailed figures that explore the human form, movement and character.
Her background as a physiotherapist informs her understanding of anatomy and gesture. Her process begins in clay, allowing her to capture subtle detail and expression.
Inspired by her lifelong passion for swimming, these sculptures reflect Cook’s interest in capturing not only the physical form, but the individual character and essence of each subject.
