Lise Temple’s latest body of work brings together expressive landscapes and interiors that balance observation with abstraction. Inspired by everyday surroundings, her paintings reduce familiar places to bold planes of colour, rich impasto and gestural marks.
The works reshape space through the physical act of painting rather than describing a scene. Temple works intuitively with a palette knife and richly layered oil paint, foregrounding the materiality of her medium.
The paintings use landscape and domestic space as vehicles for colour, movement and memory.
