Emma Talbot: You Are Not the Centre runs from 9 October 2026 to 25 April 2027.
British artist Emma Talbot fills HAM’s grand arched hall with glowing colours, flowing patterns, and poetic handwritten texts. The exhibition includes large-scale silk paintings, three-dimensional textile works, drawings, and an animation.
The works explore humanity’s relationship with nature amid the climate crisis, biodiversity loss, and technological change. In Talbot’s works, humans are not the centre of the world but are part of nature and a larger whole.
Talbot’s personal experiences and reflections expand from the personal toward the communal, forming narratives about the present. Drawing is foundational to her artistic practice, functioning both as a tool for thought and as a channel for emotion.
