The conversation will bring together Decennial artists Lula Mae Blocton, Anoka Faruqee, David Driscoll, and Kristy Hughes, with Karis Medina, associate curator at the Josef and Anni Albers Foundation, as moderator.
Through selected works and consideration of their broader practices, the artists will share the questions and interests that drive their work while reflecting on the experiences, relationships, and influences that have shaped its development.
The program is presented in conjunction with ‘The Aldrich Decennial: I am what is around me,’ described as the inaugural edition of a recurring exhibition taking place every ten years and featuring 40 artists who live and work in Connecticut.
The Decennial is also described as the debut of a recurring survey focused on artists who live and work in Connecticut, spotlighting current artists and practices emerging from the state through The Aldrich’s position as Connecticut’s only museum exclusively dedicated to contemporary art. None of the featured artists will have had a solo museum exhibition in Connecticut, and all works in the survey will have been created within the last decade.
