Lou Peralta: Expanded Portraiture, The Matter of the Invisible and Elizabeth Z. Pineda: Maíz, featuring Yu Yu Shiratori: In the Cases, will be on view from September 22 through November 28, 2026. The exhibition will be the last at Etherton Gallery’s 340 S. Convent Avenue location.
The gallery’s next location has not yet been announced, and it hopes to announce its new home in October. Etherton Gallery’s commitment to photography and artists remains unchanged.
Peralta’s exhibition examines how portrait photography can convey essence and energetic presence beyond visible identity. Peralta is a Mexico City artist and fourth-generation portrait photographer whose family’s history in portrait photography extends for more than a century; after a career as an editorial photographer, she turned to artistic practice.
Pineda’s Maíz uses cyanotypes on corn husks to explore identity, cultural inheritance and home. Shiratori presents work across embroidery, jewelry, metalwork, murals and illustration.
