A graduate of Dixie High School, Steele has spent his career in Helper, Utah. Helper was formerly a railroad and mining town before it became an artists’ enclave.
Steele paints in a range of styles. He is best known for taking icons of art history and pop culture and running them through a distinctly Utah lens.
Open Studio is a monthly walk-in art-making opportunity at the St. George Museum of Art, where creatives of all ages are invited to stop by and participate in a craft and informal lesson. These sessions aim to meet artists in any phase of expertise, whether it is their first-ever art project or they are working artists looking for fun ways to exercise their creativity with the St. George Museum of Art community.
