The largest-scale solo exhibition to date by Onomichi-born contemporary artist Motoharu Yamamoto will open on the 19th at the Onomichi City Museum of Art. Yamamoto is known for large-scale installations made with salt.
The exhibition marks 35 years of Yamamoto’s artistic activity and returns to his birthplace, where his work began.
It is framed as Yamamoto’s return to the sea of his birthplace.
The work is presented as a breathlessly white spiral filling the floor, with delicate lines that connect to someone important who once existed; if touched, each line would disappear.
