The exhibition is by London-based duo Vince Ibay and Jessica Miller, who work together as Fromm Studio.
Through playful encounters with animated figures of ancient legend and myth, the exhibition explores how the digital landscape is shaping modern lives. Its result is a blend of UK folklore, viral memes and 3D-printed sculpture. ‘Faerdom’ is structured around two co-existing spaces, ‘Dystopia’ and ‘Utopia’. ‘Dystopia’ references the allure of algorithms through Cornish piskies tempting people off the path, while ‘Utopia’ addresses technology’s transformative potential.
In the land of Faerdom, a depiction of the Pied Piper of Hamelin is surrounded by TikTok-style dancing rats, representing the hypnotic power of digital entertainment.
New work includes a large-scale triptych framed with social-media icons, referencing the desire for online engagement. Luddites, saints and giant corgis also make an appearance.
In an uncertain time when the online world dominates people’s lives, the exhibition asks whether humanity’s oldest stories still resonate and can offer perspective and hope for the future.
