Three new exhibitions open at FOMU on Thursday 17 September.
The series asks how humans live alongside the plants, animals and objects in their homes, including the ways people live with those presences, and invites viewers to look anew at domesticity and everyday activities.
Pertsowsky photographs inside her mother’s house, a place described as teeming with life, where the photographed scenes include a fly on breakfast leftovers, dishes waiting to be washed, a partly eaten lump of butter, a smartphone and a colony of ants.
The project brings together photography and sculpture, joining the photographic work made in her mother’s house with a sculptural practice.
The works listed for the project are ‘Beurre Sculpté par ma mère’ from 2021–2026, ‘La fourmi ailée l'éponge et celle de Claude’ from 2024–2026, ‘L'évier’ from 2024–2026 and ‘Araignée économe’ from 2025–2026.
