The application deadline is February 17, 2027, and the program is scheduled to run from July 5 through August 6, 2027. It is listed as an in-person Visual Arts program.
The program invites visual artists to think expansively about performance, considering how it emerges through movement, stillness, reading, listening, endurance, care and collective action.
Artists are also invited to investigate how performance and materiality intersect, including the ways images and forms are activated, transformed and given meaning through embodied interaction.
Through individual studio-based experimentation and collective inquiry, artists will explore and create new relationships between bodies, objects and spaces. Banff’s landscape and natural surroundings are described as collaborators in the creative process, offering opportunities for site-responsive and place-based investigations.
Brendan Fernandes, Claire Fleming Staples and Abril Zales are joining the program as faculty. The residency is structured around faculty-led activity and mentorship, supporting project-based studio practice.
