The incoming artists are expected to take up residence at ICA LA over the coming year, with the institution supporting the development of their practices in dialogue with its staff, audiences, and wider community.
Launched in fall 2025, the AIR program was established to expand platforms for providing direct support to artists and to place artists at the center of the institution’s work.
The inaugural cohort consists of Mohammad Tayyeb, Julie Tolentino, and Hwa Records. The artists worked from dedicated studios adjacent to ICA LA and became an active part of the institution through performances, workshops, conversations, research, and exchange.
The residency offered an opportunity to meet the inaugural cohort, see what had taken shape over the past year, and hear about their experiences in residence at ICA LA. ICA LA’s Fall Open Studios was described as taking place on Saturday, October 3, during the final month of the inaugural residency program, and as free and open to all.
