'Tapta meets Judd' is a new exhibition in the Rooms of modern and contemporary art, running from 6 October 2026 to 14 March 2027.
The two artists, of the same generation and working on opposite sides of the Atlantic, are connected by their contributions to rethinking the relationship to space while working with industrial materials.
Originally trained in textile arts, she developed her sculptural practice from the 1980s onwards using neoprene, a synthetic rubber.
The Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium preserve two works marking Tapta’s artistic trajectory; one, 'Néoflexibles 2', has not been shown publicly for many years and will be presented exceptionally for the exhibition. Several original works by Tapta come from the collection of Maurice Verbaet and another private collection.
