The exhibition is on display until 27 September, with its final weekend rounded off by Special Last Days.
On 27 September, 'A Way 2 Sessy' will take the form of an immersive choreographic performance led by Camilla Da Silva, who will guide visitors through the exhibition route. The performance combines contemporary dance, pole dance and costume transformation, in direct interaction with the audience and the architecture.
'Art x Gender' uses artworks from the museum’s collection to explore how art can reinforce or challenge gender-based stereotypes. Nearly 30 works from the 16th to the 20th century, from Lucas Cranach to Roger Raveel, are exhibited at the Old Masters Museum, some for the first time.
The inquiry extends throughout the collections through a guided trail encouraging visitors to continue questioning stereotypes within the permanent displays. The programme also highlights several women artists who have often remained less visible, bringing their work further into the spotlight.
This scientific and critical perspective on a societal issue forms part of a broader process of deconstruction aligned with the museums’ ambition to become more open, socially grounded and aware of the narratives they convey.
