Kin has listed the exhibition ‘Bruket av fotografi: Borg Mesch och Hans-Olof Utsi’ for 16 April–18 October 2026 on the museum’s third floor.
At its centre are around 60 photographs by Borg Mesch depicting Kiruna’s early decades, the construction of the railway to the Atlantic coast, the northern landscape and the Sámi Indigenous population. Mesch photographed railway workers, tourists, Kiruna’s growing population and Sámi people, and had recurring commissions from LKAB and the Swedish Tourist Association.
Variations in technique, scale and framing suggest that the images have been used during different periods and in different contexts.
The project is being developed with Kiruna municipality’s culture and education administration, which manages an extensive collection of Mesch’s photographs, and forms part of Kin’s longer-term thematic strand ‘Den kritiska zonen’.
