During an inauguration, Andrés Duprat, director of Bellas Artes, characterized Leandro’s work as the product of a curiosity cultivated over many years.
“Leandro ha fomentado a través de los años su curiosidad al punto de generar una obra que abreva de la literatura, el cine, la antropología, la historia, y todo lo plasma con muchísima libertad,” Duprat said.
In Duprat’s description, literature, cinema, anthropology and history are named as sources for Leandro’s body of work. His remarks also stress the freedom with which the artist gives form to those interests.
The statement centres Leandro’s sustained curiosity as the force behind a practice that draws from several fields, while preserving Duprat’s emphasis on its highly free expression.
