‘El ángel y el escarabajo’ (1941) is a woodcut by José Planas Casas.
Planas Casas was a Spanish artist who became an Argentine citizen. His work addressed surrealist themes, and he admired André Breton and Salvador Dalí.
At the foot of the image, the inscription reads: ‘Al profesor Juan Mantovani’.
