The Ukrainian Institute of Modern Art will present ‘Eric Bladholm: Voices From the Gray Zone’ from September 19, 2026, to January 9, 2027. The exhibition brings together photography and video drawn from Bladholm’s nine humanitarian trips.
Organized as a timeline, the presentation frames those journeys across four years of war. Its subject is not destruction alone, but the daily lives of Ukrainians living through Russian aggression. The works document struggles, resilience and relationships, while also registering the increasingly dangerous circumstances surrounding the people portrayed.
The exhibition’s emphasis on “the voices behind the headlines” gives its chronological structure a clear human focus: civilian life under war is recorded through photography and video rather than reduced to images of damage.
‘Eric Bladholm: Voices From the Gray Zone’ will be on view at the Ukrainian Institute of Modern Art from September 19, 2026, through January 9, 2027.
