Salvador Dalí’s 1926 painting ‘Composició amb tres figures. Acadèmia neocubista’ has left the permanent display of the Museu de Montserrat on a temporary loan to Madrid.
The work will be included in ‘El universo freudiano de Dalí’ at the Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza from 20 October 2026 to 24 January 2027. Curated by Jaime Brihuega, the exhibition is organised in seven chronological sections linked to decisive chapters of Dalí’s biography.
The presentation examines the relationship between Dalí’s work and the writings of Sigmund Freud, proposing a reading of the artist’s career from his early years to late works made in Catalonia. Alongside works by Dalí related to Freudian thought, the exhibition includes paintings and drawings by Jean Arp, Arnold Böcklin, Sigmund Freud, Max Ernst, Jean-François Millet, Pablo Picasso, Santiago Ramón y Cajal, Julio Romero de Torres, Gino Severini and Ives Tanguy, among others.
‘El universo freudiano de Dalí’ is installed in the museum’s ground-floor temporary exhibition galleries.
