Artist Tony Cokes and Counterpublic curator Stefanie Hessler will lead ‘Artist Talk + Tour in The Ville: Tony Cokes’ on 12 September 2026, from 10:30am to noon.
The free event begins and ends at Counterpublic’s Hub in The Ville, at 4140 Dr. Martin Luther King Drive in St. Louis. It includes a conversation at Antioch Baptist Church and a walking tour of The Ville neighborhood.
The programme accompanies Cokes’s exhibition at Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis as part of ‘Counterpublic 2026: Coyote Time’. It will trace Cokes’s project across several sites: a video on CAM’s facade for ‘Street Views’, a video installed at Antioch Baptist Church, and billboards bridging the two locations.
Counterpublic staff and artists will also take visitors to works by other ‘Counterpublic 2026’ artists in the neighborhood. The route requires navigating uneven and unreliable city sidewalks.
