‘Olga de Amaral: Weaving the Infinite’ opens at the Pulitzer Arts Foundation in St. Louis on 10 September 2026 and runs through 31 January 2027. Co-organized by the Pulitzer Arts Foundation and Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum, the exhibition surveys the work of Colombian artist Olga de Amaral, born in 1932.
The presentation traces Amaral’s evolution from early weavings made in the 1950s to monumental textiles from the 2000s, bringing together celebrated and rarely seen works. It is the first presentation to include fabric and samples from Telas Amaral, the artist’s design studio. Works on paper and historic and contemporary weavings collected by Amaral are also included.
Among the works presented are ‘Strata XV’ (2009), made of linen, gesso, acrylic and gold leaf; ‘Columna en Pasteles (Column in Pastels)’ (1972), in wool and horsehair; and ‘Riscos calizos (Limestone Ridges)’ (1983), in horsehair and wool.
An opening reception takes place on 10 September, followed by a curatorial tour on 19 September.
