The Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery in Toronto will present Sharon Lockhart’s ‘Fogo’ from 24 October 2026 through 21 March 2027.
Organized and developed by The Power Plant in partnership with The Vega Foundation, the exhibition brings together work made by Lockhart over four summers on Newfoundland’s Fogo Island. It comprises the photographic series ‘Fogo Island Portrait Studio’, which pictures young island residents, and ‘WINDWARD’, a film installation featuring the same protagonists.
‘WINDWARD’ brings the island’s geological formations, climate and beauty into the installation. The film is co-commissioned and co-produced by Shorefast/Fogo Island Arts, The Vega Foundation and the National Gallery of Canada, with support from The Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery and Walter Phillips Gallery at Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity.
