Mexican singer Lila Downs performed at Conde Duque in Madrid as part of Veranos de la Villa 2026, according to a press note from the City of Madrid. The concert, held in the patio central of the venue, drew an audience for one of the festival’s highlighted musical events this year.
The city said the performance took place on the evening of 22 July, with the news note published the following day. The event was presented within Veranos de la Villa 2026, the summer festival organised by Madrid’s Culture, Tourism and Sport department.
In the account released by the city, Downs was described as one of the major voices in Latin American music. The note emphasised her powerful voice and stage presence, and said the concert offered a musical journey in which tradition and modernity were brought together.
The programme, as described by the municipality, combined Mexican roots and the music of Oaxaca with sounds from different cultures. That mix framed a set that moved between regional identity and a broader cross-cultural approach, without departing from the artist’s established repertoire.
Several of Downs’s best-known songs were included in the performance. The city’s report named 'La cumbia del mole', 'Zapata se queda' and 'Mezcalito' among the pieces heard during the concert, which it characterised as full of emotion and force.
The official note also stressed the connection between the artist and the audience at Conde Duque, saying she made the crowd vibrate in one of the major music dates of the 2026 edition. The concert was staged in the central courtyard of the venue, a setting used for the festival’s summer programme.
