‘Lyn Carter: The Pinks’ is on view at the Art Gallery of Peterborough through 4 October 2026. Curated by Mary Reid and Danielle Hoevenaars, the exhibition is organized and circulated by Woodstock Art Gallery, with support from the Ontario Arts Council and Canada Council for the Arts.
‘The Pinks’ is an immersive animation and sound installation presenting six non-human creatures. Its animation sequences vary in running time and slowly fall out of sync, producing changing interactions as the characters’ sounds rise and fall. The work reflects on human existence through characters that explore their bodies, surroundings and the edges of their television screens.
Carter describes the project as primarily sculptural, with movement and sound added, and says scale is central to the work: “The animated characters are intended to have equal presence to the humans in the room.”
An artist talk with Carter is scheduled for 3 October, from 2 to 4 pm. She will discuss her practice and ‘The Pinks’; admission is free.
