The Centro per l'arte contemporanea Luigi Pecci in Prato is showing 'Sospesi nel mondo', a group exhibition drawn from its Laboratorio di Attività Espressive and developed in collaboration with AUSL-Toscana Centro-UF Salute Mentale Adulti. The exhibition runs from 20 June to 31 August 2026, with an opening on 19 June at 12:00. Admission is free.
According to the museum, the show occupies the Foyer EduLab and brings together a selection of works by current participants in the laboratory. It also sets aside a space in the Project Room for a retrospective presentation of the work of Irene Tortelli (1954-2024), a participant in the laboratory since its early years. The exhibition is presented as 'Sospesi nel mondo: mostra del Laboratorio di Attività Espressive'.
The project is rooted in the Centre’s educational practice as much as in its exhibition programme. Each participant contributed to the making of the show, from choosing the works to arranging the spaces, and the title was selected by the authors present. The museum says this approach was intended to reflect the artistic process behind the displayed works and the production that has taken place over recent years in the laboratory.
The artists listed as exhibiting are Davide Apostolico, Marco Baldi, Delia Boboc, Maria Canelli, Elisabetta Carleo, Francesco Ciullini, Roberto Francini, Martina, Diletta Paoli, Luciano Righi, Consuelo Rossi, Anna Scrima and Irene Tortelli. The exhibition brings these works into dialogue with the memory of Tortelli through the dedicated retrospective section.
The Laboratorio di Attività Espressive is coordinated by the Centro Pecci’s education department together with the mental health service, and it is conducted by art therapists in collaboration with the cooperative EDA Servizi. The museum frames the project as part of its ongoing educational activity, with the show presented inside the EduLab foyer and Project Room rather than as a conventional gallery installation.
