The Centro per l'arte contemporanea Luigi Pecci in Prato presents CARTOLINE (Postcards) from 8 October to 8 November 2026. The exhibition brings to a close the first cycle of SUPERTOSCANA, a residency programme for artists and curators under 36 promoted by the Centro Pecci and supported by the Region of Tuscany through the European Social Fund Plus (FSE+) 2021–2027 programme for employment in cultural heritage and contemporary art. It opens to the public on the evening of 8 October, from 6 to 9 pm, with free admission.
Curated by Marco-Augusto Basso, Giulia Menegale and Arianna Tremolanti, the show approaches environment and landscape from an emotional and many-sided angle. According to the museum, it treats Tuscany like the two faces of a postcard: on the front, the polished, official and stereotyped views; on the back, the stories, memories and contradictions of those who pass through these places. Landscape thus appears as a ground of tension between protection and exploitation, and between personal memory and official narrative.
The works and curatorial interventions on view result from the months the participants spent in different parts of Tuscany, in contact with communities far apart in history and geography. The participants are Marco-Augusto Basso, Carolina Cappelli, Li Cui (Rio), Gaia De Megni, Giulia Menegale, Beatrice Miniaci, Rebeca Pak, Peng Shuai Paolo, Colin St. Mary and Arianna Tremolanti.
Besides the Centro Pecci, the first cycle involved three partner organisations: B.A.Co. in Baratti, which manages the architect Vittorio Giorgini's experimental Casa Esagono; the Fondazione Magazzini Generali 48° 50° in Livorno; and the Siena Art Institute (SART). Reflecting that spread across the region, the exhibition unfolds as a series of scattered appearances throughout the museum's spaces, which the curators treat as a landscape to inhabit, a place to pause and a public square to cross together.
A catalogue dedicated to CARTOLINE will accompany the exhibition.
