Camden Art Centre will present ‘A hard line to bend’, an exhibition by Liz Larner, from 11 September 2026 to 17 January 2027. The free exhibition brings together works primarily from the past decade, alongside a new work titled ‘A hard line to bend’ (2026).
The presentation unfolds through a series of rooms and considers transformation, from ancient myth and cosmology to cycles of matter. It includes Larner’s wall-mounted ceramic tablets, made through processes of shaping, drying, firing and glazing, as well as assemblages of discarded single-use plastics and a series of ceramic ‘asteroids’.
The new sculpture ‘A hard line to bend’ was inspired by Lilith, a figure from Mesopotamian mythology and Jewish folklore. Referencing a Babylonian depiction of Lilith in the British Museum, it incorporates a human hand and owl foot cast in bronze, along with a branch from trees surrounding Larner’s studio.
An exhibition preview will take place on 10 September, from 6.30pm to 9.30pm. On 13 September, Larner will join novelist Joanna Kavenna for a conversation on themes in the exhibition and their broader ideas and creative practices.
