‘Edie McKee Harper: Modernist at Play’ will be on view at the Taft Museum of Art’s Fifth Third Gallery in Cincinnati from 17 October 2026 through 24 January 2027.
The exhibition and an accompanying catalogue examine the work of Cincinnati artist Edie McKee Harper (American, 1922–2010) across more than 100 works. Harper worked in photographs, paintings, enamels, weavings, illustrations and prints.
Works listed for the presentation include ‘Crazy Cat on Crazy Quilt (Patches)’, about 1990, an acrylic-on-canvas work in the Collection of Brett Harper; ‘Cat Carson—Western Scout’ (1983); ‘Dish with Feathered Friends’ (1950s), enamel on copper; ‘Sandpeeper’ (1981); and an untitled gelatin silver print dated 1945–1950s.
The exhibition is organized by the Taft Museum of Art in partnership with the Charley and Edie Harper Art Studio. An opening reception and signature talk are scheduled for 15 October, followed by curator tours, workshops, a Family Funday on 18 October, and free Sunday drop-in tours running through the exhibition’s closing date.
