Clemens Sels Museum Neuss will present ‘Best Friends: Humans and Animals in Naïve Art’ from 15 November 2026 to 4 April 2027.
The exhibition brings together paintings, drawings and sculptures by international representatives of Naïve Art, addressing animals’ distinctive qualities and their relationships with people. It includes autodidactic positions by André Bauchant, Erich Bödecker, Ilija ‘Bosilj’ Bašičević, Max Raffler, Anna Mary Robertson, Adalbert Trillhaase and Henryk Zegadlo.
The museum will also present its collection focus on Naïve Art following restoration. This part of the collection was most heavily affected by water damage in May 2022.
A preview for members of the Museumsverein is scheduled for 13 November. Public programming includes a family tour on 22 November, a curatorial tour with Dr. Bettina Zeman on 25 November, and a public tour on 29 November. The exhibition will open on 15 November at Clemens Sels Museum Neuss.
