Art & Horse Racing Gallery in Newmarket is presenting a group of recent blue-themed paintings by Annie Mitra, a contemporary and figurative artist whose acrylic works examine nature and everyday objects. The listing also includes the 2026 paintings ‘Little Blue Jug’, ‘Landscape in Blue’ and ‘Blue Still Life’, priced at £365, £475 and £475 respectively.
Mitra’s practice is described by the gallery as quiet in presence but capable of producing powerful and engaging images. Her listed subjects include landscapes, still lifes and animals. Alongside the blue works, the website records several 2026 paintings as sold, including ‘Blue Trees’, ‘Island Cat’, ‘Cool Cat’, ‘Spring Awakening’ and ‘Snowdrops’. Mitra grew up in Highgate, north London, and now lives in Barnes, south London, according to the gallery’s artist biography. She studied in Paris and New York and graduated from Parsons School of Design. Her work has been exhibited in the United Kingdom and the United States, and she is also identified as the author and illustrator of several children’s books. The gallery says that this background can be sensed in the simple, accessible quality of her paintings.
Art & Horse Racing Gallery operates from Saint Wendred’s on Hamilton Road in Newmarket. Its institutional description places the gallery within a working racing stable and presents its programme as combining the training of racehorses with fine art.
