The Musée Bourdelle in Paris will present ‘Contrepoint’, an installation by designer Anthony Guerrée, as part of Paris Design Week. The project will be on view at the museum from 8 to 27 September 2026, placing Guerrée’s work in dialogue with the world of sculptor Antoine Bourdelle and inviting visitors to reconsider the museum’s collections through a contemporary design intervention.
Guerrée’s installation brings together creations made from wood, glass, textile and terracotta. The museum describes these works as engaging with Bourdelle’s universe, without detailing a separate gallery or a specific selection of objects. The presentation is therefore framed around a conversation between Guerrée’s material practice and the collections held at the Musée Bourdelle.
The installation’s title, ‘Contrepoint’, is also used by the museum for a public programme led by Guerrée. On 24 September at 6pm, the designer will give a free, reservation-only conference about the project. According to the museum, the discussion will examine how he conceived the staging of the furniture and developed the installation within spaces that have served, in different ways, as places of work, life, reception and exhibition.
The conference will also address the sources of Guerrée’s inspiration inside the museum and outline successive stages in his creative process. The programme presents the talk as an opportunity to follow the making of ‘Contrepoint’, rather than simply viewing its finished components. No further biographical information about the designer or details of individual works are provided in the museum’s announcement.
‘Contrepoint’ will coincide with the European Heritage Days on 19 and 20 September. During that weekend, the Musée Bourdelle will offer free workshops for children and adults connected with the installation, with Guerrée present. Musical visits to the permanent collections are also scheduled across the weekend, alongside a Sunday performance of Beethoven’s ‘Serenade’. Visits and workshops require advance booking, while the concert will be free subject to available capacity.
The installation itself is free to visit without a reservation. It forms part of the Musée Bourdelle’s autumn programme, which also includes the exhibition ‘L’étoffe de l’artiste. De Rosa Bonheur à Sonia Delaunay’, opening on 23 September and running through 24 January 2027. That exhibition will bring together more than 50 garments and accessories belonging to artists, but it is a separate presentation from Guerrée’s Paris Design Week project.
