Galerie Simon Blais will open ‘D’espace et de couleur’ on September 9, launching celebrations marking the centennial of Canadian artist Denis Juneau. The exhibition will remain on view at the Montréal gallery through October 24, 2026, bringing together approximately 30 works from across six decades of Juneau’s artistic production.
The presentation includes paintings, pendulums and sculptures selected from the approximately 1,000 works held by the Denis Juneau Trust. According to the gallery, the selection spans the years 1949 to 2010 and is intended to show the breadth of Juneau’s career and the richness of the legacy preserved by the trust.
The exhibition’s chronology covers the full period identified in the gallery’s announcement, from Juneau’s earliest works in 1949 through the final year of the selection in 2010. No individual works or specific groupings have been identified in the available material, but the inclusion of pendulums and sculptures indicates a presentation extending beyond a single medium.
The opening reception is scheduled for Wednesday, September 9, from 5 to 8 p.m. The exhibition will then be presented at Galerie Simon Blais, located at 5420 Saint-Laurent Boulevard, Suite 100, in Montréal. The gallery’s newsletter lists regular hours as Tuesday through Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with the venue closed on Sundays and Mondays.
Founded in 1989, Galerie Simon Blais presents emerging and established artists working across painting, drawing, sculpture, printmaking and photography. The gallery also participates in contemporary-art fairs nationally and internationally. Its website’s artist list includes Denis Juneau alongside artists such as Françoise Sullivan, Jean-Paul Riopelle, Guido Molinari and Louise Robert.
The Juneau exhibition is the principal upcoming event identified in the gallery’s announcement.
