The Musée Jenisch Vevey will host six exhibitions as part of Images Vevey 2026, the Swiss visual-arts biennial taking place across the city from 5 to 27 September. The biennial’s own programme gives this as its tenth edition, staged under the theme ‘We are family!’ with 50 artistic projects from 21 countries. The programme will extend beyond the museum to streets, parks, galleries, regional museums and other locations in Vevey, with projects developed for specific sites and, in some cases, designed to involve visitors interactively.
Images Vevey is presented by the Musée Jenisch’s announcement as Switzerland’s most important biennial of visual arts. Held every two years, the event is structured as a citywide platform for photography exhibitions rather than a single-venue presentation. Its programme includes outdoor installations as well as projects shown in cultural institutions and other unconventional spaces. The biennial’s programme lists the six shows sited inside the museum: Kata Geibl’s ‘Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue’, Abdulhamid Kircher’s ‘To Be Held By The Earth’, Stacy Kranitz’s ‘Ain’t No Grave Gonna Hold My Body Down’, Pacifico Silano’s ‘Undercover Pleasures’, Mario Wezel’s ‘Interstellar Nights’ and Karolina Wojtas’s ‘We can’t live without each other’. The museum’s own announcement gives the number but does not name them.
The exhibitions open on 5 September at 11am with free entry, and the biennial’s official opening ceremony follows the same day from 5:30pm to 6:30pm at the Théâtre de Verdure in the Jardin du Rivage, where the Grand Prix Images Vevey is presented. During the event, the Musée Jenisch will have exceptional opening hours, welcoming visitors daily from 11am to 7pm. Admission to the museum will be free throughout the biennial’s run.
The Images Vevey programme coincides with two exhibitions organised independently by the Musée Jenisch. ‘The Wonder Way Project: Les Labyrinthes et les mondes oubliés’, an exhibition by filmmaker and visual artist Emmanuelle Antille, will be on view from 5 September to 4 October. It is described as the third part of a series begun with Antille’s film ‘The Wonder Way’, following presentations at the Manoir de la Ville de Martigny and the Centre d’art contemporain d’Yverdon-les-Bains.
For the Musée Jenisch presentation, Antille will show a new installation alongside selected prints and drawings from the museum’s collection and works by associated artists. The exhibition addresses wandering, traces and disappearance, including vanished artistic worlds, inaccessible or neglected treasures, and unrealised or lost universes. Antille was born in 1972.
A second museum exhibition, ‘Bourses Alice Bailly 2025 et 2026’, will run from 5 to 27 September at the Pavillon de l’estampe. It will present work by Lou Cohen, the 2025 recipient of the Alice Bailly grant, and Eliot Möwes, the 2026 recipient, in dialogue with woodcuts by Alice Bailly (1872–1938). Since 1951, the Alice Bailly Foundation has supported contemporary creation in French-speaking Switzerland through grants for young visual artists. The exhibition is curated by Marie Gaitzsch, the museum’s curator of Fine Arts, and deputy curator Pamella Guerdat.
The Musée Jenisch’s September programme also includes a meeting with Cohen and Möwes on 10 September, a book launch for ‘The Wonder Way Project’ with Antille on 17 September, and other museum activities. The museum is located at Avenue de la Gare 2 in Vevey.
