The Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Panamá will present ‘Trixie Briceño: sistemas de lo maravilloso’, a new publication devoted to Beatrix “Trixie” Briceño, on Thursday, August 27, during the 2026 International Book Fair of Panama. The launch will take place at 4:10 p.m. in the Bejuco / Chocoe Salon at Atlapa in Panama City.
According to the museum’s announcement, the book grew out of an exhibition dedicated to Briceño’s work and career. It brings together a record of that project, allowing readers to revisit the artist’s artistic universe, contribution and place in the history of art in Panama.
The publication focuses on Briceño’s standing as a pioneer of surrealism in Panama. The announcement does not provide further biographical information or specify the exhibition’s dates, checklist or publication details, but frames the book as an extension of the museum’s examination of her practice and legacy.
The presentation will include Juan Canela, chief curator of the MAC Panamá; Jennifer Choy, curator at the museum; and Andrea Ballard, the institution’s curatorial assistant. Their participation will place the publication in the context of the museum’s curatorial work surrounding the exhibition and its documentation.
Also scheduled to participate are independent curator Adrienne Samos, historian, curator, art critic and editor Mónica E. Kupfer, and digital artist Ix Shells. The event is described as an opportunity to continue discussion of Briceño’s work, trajectory and the new readings emerging around her legacy.
The launch is scheduled for Thursday, August 27, at 4:10 p.m. at the Bejuco / Chocoe Salon, Atlapa, as part of the 2026 International Book Fair of Panama.
