Amorepacific Museum of Art in Seoul will present ‘Sol LeWitt: Open Structure’ from September 1, 2026, through February 28, 2027, in what the museum describes as the conceptual-art pioneer’s first large-scale solo exhibition in South Korea. The museum lists 45 works across wall drawings, structures, paintings, photographs, prints and archival material, installed in the first-floor lobby and in galleries 1 to 7 on the basement level.
Presented as the museum’s contemporary-art exhibition for the second half of 2026, the show surveys LeWitt (1928–2007), who was born in Hartford, Connecticut, from his black-and-white structures of the 1960s through his later colour works and archive. The museum frames the selection around his conviction that the idea itself can be the work: rules assigned to elementary geometric elements such as lines, grids, cubes and modules, then carried across different media and spaces.
Thirteen wall drawings form the core of the presentation. Because the works exist as written instructions, each is realised differently in each venue, and these have been newly executed for the architecture of Amorepacific Museum of Art, extending through the galleries at large scale.
The museum credits itself as organiser and describes the show as a touring exhibition planned in cooperation with the Sol LeWitt Foundation and the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo. An earlier presentation under the same title was shown at the Tokyo museum from December 25, 2025, to April 2, 2026, according to image credits published by Paula Cooper Gallery.
Amorepacific Museum of Art is at 100 Hangang-daero in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, and opens Tuesday to Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. It closes on Mondays, on January 1, and over the Seollal and Chuseok holidays. Advance reservations for the exhibition opened on August 18, 2026.
