Grace Ndiritu’s solo exhibition ‘PoriPostModern’ will open at Pori Art Museum in Pori, Finland, on 26 September 2026. The exhibition will bring together works by the British-Kenyan (Maasai Kikuyu) artist with a broad selection of works from the museum’s own collection and the collection of the Villa Mairea Foundation.
The exhibition is scheduled to remain on view through 28 February 2027. Pori Art Museum has listed ‘PoriPostModern’ as an upcoming exhibition at its Eteläranta site, following the closure of three current exhibitions on 30 August: ‘Maire Gullichsen and the Turning Points of Modernism’, ‘De Se Attitude’ and ‘Contra Conservatio’.
The museum’s own exhibition page sets out the content in detail. The presentation in the Halli is built around Ndiritu’s The Temple, an installation that works both as modernist exhibition architecture and as a shared spiritual space; the version built in Pori holds her own works together with a selection from the museum’s collections. Her textile pieces referring to political civic movements and collection works from the postmodern years of the 1970s and 1980s together suggest an indoor sculpture park. Ndiritu also assembles a new hang from the Maire Gullichsen Art Foundation collection, whose modernist works are shown in a room she has designed after Villa Mairea, the house Aino and Alvar Aalto designed for the Gullichsen family at Noormarkku in 1939. The exhibition further includes her new moving-image work The Rehearsals, co-produced by Pori Art Museum, and Mike Kelley’s The Judson Church Horse Dance (2010), which Ndiritu selected as an artistic and thematic kinship, continuing an exchange begun in a joint exhibition at Pori Art School in summer 2024. The museum credits support from the Finnish Heritage Agency and thanks the Villa Mairea Foundation for the loans. The exhibition occupies the Halli, the Siipi (Wing) galleries and the MG space.
Pori Art Museum is located in central Pori at Eteläranta and maintains collections and archives as part of its institutional programme. Its English-language visitor information lists regular opening hours as Tuesday to Friday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; the museum is closed on Mondays. Admission is listed at €10 or €6, with free entry for visitors under 18 and students.
An opening event for the autumn exhibition season is planned for Friday, 25 September 2026. The museum has announced bus transportation from Helsinki for the opening and said that Ndiritu will be present. No further details about the opening programme, including a precise start time, are given in the available material.
The new exhibition will follow a summer programme that also includes the group exhibition ‘Household’ at the museum’s Poriginal Gallery, running from 22 August to 18 October 2026. That presentation features Paavo Kärki, Otso Prunnila, Aino Tillonen and Ossi Vuori, and is separate from Ndiritu’s ‘PoriPostModern’, which runs at Pori Art Museum from 26 September 2026 to 28 February 2027.
