Iiri Poteri’s performance installation ‘Kuiskaus’ will be presented at Kulttuuritalo Korundi in Rovaniemi from 13 to 17 October 2026 as part of the Rovaniemi Art Museum’s 40th-anniversary week. The work will be shown in Rovaniemi for the first time.
In ‘Kuiskaus’, Poteri places her own ear in a hole made in the exhibition-space wall and listens to what is happening in the room. The work dates from 2020, when it was first shown in the Kuvan Kevät exhibition at Exhibition Laboratory in Helsinki, and will be on view throughout the anniversary week.
Poteri’s art often addresses vulnerability, immediacy and interaction, and she uses her own body as material. Togetherness, conversation and interaction are at the core of her making and experiencing of art, while her works using video, performance, installation, photography and sound often invite audiences to participate actively.
Poteri lives and works in Helsinki and graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in 2021; ‘Kuiskaus’ was the artistic component of her graduation project.
The museum’s anniversary week runs from 13 to 18 October 2026. Its programme includes the release of a museum history publication and a new open art space, music performances, guided tours and workshops, followed by a 40th-anniversary seminar on Thursday, the conference ‘Art History and Research on Collections in Finland’ on Friday, and an open-doors day on Saturday.
