The Kunst(Zeug)Haus in Rapperswil-Jona will present ‘HAHA. Humor als künstlerische Strategie’, an exhibition developed through the museum’s first collaboration with the DOGO Residenz für Neue Kunst in Lichtensteig. The show will bring together works by Dana Ferrari, Alice Köppel, Lily Pellaud, Thom Driver and Lino Stirnimann, created or conceived during their residencies in Lichtensteig. It will run from 6 September 2026 to 31 January 2027 in the museum’s Seitenwagen space.
The exhibition takes humor as an artistic strategy rather than simply as a subject. The works were conceived during the artists’ residency in Lichtensteig, where they engaged with the possibilities of humor in artistic practice. The participating artists include Dana Ferrari from Argentina, Alice Köppel and Lily Pellaud from Switzerland, Thom Driver from the Netherlands, and Lino Stirnimann, a Swiss artist nominated by the Hochschule Luzern (HSLU).
Seitenwagen is the Kunst(Zeug)Haus’s platform for artists under 30. Its exhibitions are staged in the museum’s cabinet room alongside its principal exhibitions, giving emerging practitioners a dedicated presentation context. For the second half of 2026, the platform is being organized in cooperation with DOGO Residenz für Neue Kunst for the first time. The partnership connects the Rapperswil-Jona museum with a residency programme based in Lichtensteig, where the five artists developed the works shown in ‘HAHA’ during the spring months.
The exhibition will open on Sunday, 6 September, alongside the Kunst(Zeug)Haus opening of ‘VOLLER LEBEN’, a presentation organized by the IG Halle. The vernissage for ‘HAHA. Humor als künstlerische Strategie’ will begin at 11am, with doors opening at 11am and an introduction at 11.30am by Guido Baumgartner, co-president and curator of IG Halle. Admission will be free throughout the day, and no registration is required.
A children’s vernissage organized with artefix kultur und schule will take place at the same time as the public opening for adults. The children’s programme is intended for participants aged five to 15 and includes a tour of ‘VOLLER LEBEN’ followed by an activity in the Kunst(Zeug)Haus studio. The museum states that the children attend without adult accompaniment and can be collected from the studio between 12.30 and 1pm.
The Kunst(Zeug)Haus is located at Schönbodenstrasse 1 in Rapperswil-Jona. During the exhibition period, its listed opening hours are Wednesday from 2 to 8pm, Thursday from 2 to 5pm, and Friday to Sunday from 11am to 5pm. ‘HAHA. Humor als künstlerische Strategie’ remains on view in the Seitenwagen space through 31 January 2027.
