The Ishikawa Prefectural Museum of Art in Kanazawa is presenting a programme of exhibitions running from August 8 through September 13, 2026. The museum’s current-exhibitions announcement highlights the special exhibition ‘Hasui, Yumeji and Kyosai: Japanese Beauty on Paper — HAIBARA Art&Design: Blossoming Elegance and Craft’, alongside a series of collection displays covering Japanese art, painting, printmaking, literature and craft.

The special exhibition is listed by the museum as a joint exhibition and is presented under the Japanese title ‘巴水・夢二・暁斎 ~ニッポンの美紙展~ — HAIBARA Art&Design 咲き誇る粋と技 —’. Its named artists are Hasui, Yumeji and Kyosai. The museum’s exhibition page gives the run as August 8 to September 13 and lists the Ishikawa Prefectural Museum of Art as the venue.

The museum’s collection displays include ‘Rinpa I — Koetsu, Sotatsu and Sosetsu’, a presentation of early Rinpa-related art named for Hon’ami Koetsu, Tawaraya Sotatsu and Sosetsu. The page identifies a work by Tawaraya Sotatsu, ‘Pine and Cypress Trees Screen’, as an example associated with the display. It is listed at the Ishikawa Prefectural Museum of Art for the same August 8–September 13 period.

A second collection presentation, ‘Selected Works’, brings together paintings and sculpture. The museum page illustrates the listing with Masako Asakura’s ‘Kneeling Before You’, while ‘Literature and Art in Dialogue’ focuses on the institution’s watercolour, drawing and print holdings. The latter listing identifies Keishu Takeuchi’s ‘The Tale of Wankyū, Part II’, based on a text by Kōda Rohan.

The programme also includes ‘What to Put On? What to Put In?’, a collection display devoted to craft. The museum gives Kurosaku Murakami’s ‘Eight-legged Stand with Shell Design in Kamakura-bori’ as an example. Like the other collection exhibitions at the museum, it is scheduled through September 13.

One related display is not located at the main museum. ‘Modern Art — Oil Paintings’ is scheduled for August 8–September 13 at the Maeda Ikutoku-kai Sonkeikaku Bunko Annex in Kanazawa. The exhibition page lists the annex separately from the Ishikawa Prefectural Museum of Art, while the other five exhibitions are identified with the museum’s Kanazawa address at 2-1 Dewamachi.

The museum’s published visitor information gives opening hours as 9:30am to 6pm, with entry to exhibition rooms permitted until 5:30pm. The current-exhibitions page was updated on August 16, 2026, and the announcement was published on August 18.
