Galería Gobernador in Mexico City opened ‘Tolvanera’, a solo exhibition by Carlos Vielma curated by Rodrigo Torres Ramos, on Saturday 22 August 2026 between noon and 5 pm. It occupies the gallery’s first room; Antoine Granier’s ‘Tableaux Vivants’ opened the same afternoon in the second.
The show reviews Vielma’s recent production, made between Saltillo, Monterrey and Mexico City. Dust, clay and sand give the works their body, taking their title from the dust storms of Mexico’s northern border region, known locally as polvareda, terregal or lluvia lagunera.
In his curatorial text Rodrigo Torres Ramos links the works to observation of territory, the dislocation of history, the persistence of migration and shifting ideological representations of the state.
The gallery is at Gobernador Luis G. Vieyra 21, San Miguel Chapultepec, Miguel Hidalgo, Mexico City. Vielma gives the run as August to October; the gallery has published no closing date.
