Inuk designer Amy Aingidlik will bring Tavvi, her fashion brand, to the ‘CRAFTED on the Catwalk’ runway for the first time on September 15. The presentation marks what has been described as a new chapter for Aingidlik and the label, bringing her evolving design language to the event’s programme of fashion and design from Manitoba and the North.

Tavvi’s contemporary designs are rooted in Inuit sewing traditions passed down through generations. Aingidlik draws inspiration from her grandmother, traditional Inuit clothing and her experiences growing up in Nunavut. She made her first parka at 15.

The related ‘North of North Market’, on September 16, will include a pop-up installation of costumes featured on the show, alongside work by nearly 50 local and Northern Indigenous artists and makers.
