A solo exhibition of drawings and sculptures by the British-German artist Tony Cragg will open at the Olaf Gulbransson Museum in Tegernsee, Germany, on 18 September 2026. The presentation will bring together works spanning more than 50 years of Cragg’s practice, according to the museum and the Olaf Gulbransson Society, which operates the institution.

The opening is scheduled for Friday, 18 September, at 5 p.m. in the Musikpavillon in the Kurgarten, next to the museum. The exhibition itself will be accessible at the Olaf Gulbransson Museum from 3 to 7 p.m. that day, with free admission during those hours. No closing date for the exhibition has been announced in the available material.

Cragg, identified by the organizers as a British-German sculptor, will be represented through both drawing and sculpture. The announcement describes the selection as covering over five decades of artistic production but does not specify the number of works, their individual titles, or the precise chronology of the presentation. A publication devoted to the artist’s drawings is also planned to accompany the exhibition.

The museum’s website places the exhibition within a broader programme that includes its permanent displays on Olaf Gulbransson and the satirical magazine Simplicissimus. It also lists ‘Tegernsee Art Masters – Tony Cragg am Tegernsee’, referring to five large Cragg sculptures installed around Tegernsee. The available exhibition announcement does not state whether those outdoor works form part of the museum presentation, but it confirms that the new show at the museum will include sculptures as well as drawings.

Michael Beck, chairman of the Olaf Gulbransson Society, is due to give welcoming remarks at the vernissage. Thomas A. Lange, chairman of the board of National-Bank AG and chairman of the board of trustees of the Cragg Foundation, is scheduled to speak. The programme will include music performed by scholarship holders from the academy of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, with the event moderated by art historian and columnist Mon Muellerschoen.

In case of rain, the opening ceremony will move from the Musikpavillon to the Baroque Hall of Tegernsee Castle. The organizers state that this indoor alternative has limited capacity and requires registration; the registration page identifies the event as fully booked. In good weather, the opening will take place in the Kurpark beside the museum without registration. The Olaf Gulbransson Museum is located at Kurgarten 5 in Tegernsee and is a branch gallery of the Bavarian State Painting Collections.
