Columbus Museum of Art Highlights Hopper, Bernhard and Robin F. Williams Works on View

Cette actualité est affichée en anglais en attendant que sa traduction soit prête.

The Columbus Museum of Art is highlighting three works from its collection currently on view across the museum’s galleries: Edward Hopper’s ‘Morning Sun’ (1952), Ruth Bernhard’s ‘Star Shell’ (1943), and Robin F. Williams’s ‘Final Girl Exodus’ (2021).

The presentation places the works in separate areas of the Columbus, Ohio, museum. Hopper’s oil painting is displayed in Gallery 2, while Bernhard’s gelatin silver print appears in Gallery 5. Williams’s oil-and-acrylic painting is installed on the upper level in the Walter Wing.

‘Morning Sun’ is identified as an oil on canvas and was acquired by the museum through the Howald Fund. The work is listed alongside Hopper’s name and its 1952 date, without further interpretive information in the museum’s collection highlight. Its placement in Gallery 2 makes it one of the works visitors can encounter as part of the museum’s broader collection presentation.

Bernhard’s ‘Star Shell,’ a 1943 gelatin silver print, entered the museum as a gift from Richard M. and Elizabeth M. Ross. The listing includes a rights notice crediting the Trustees of Princeton University and states that the image is reproduced with permission from the Ruth Bernhard Archive, Princeton University Art Museum.

Williams’s ‘Final Girl Exodus’ is dated 2021 and made with oil and acrylic on canvas. The painting was given to the museum by the Scantland Collection and is displayed in the Walter Wing on the upper level. The collection highlight presents the work in the same on-view update as the Hopper and Bernhard pieces, but does not describe a shared theme or a dedicated exhibition connecting the three artists.

The Columbus Museum of Art, located at 480 East Broad Street, presents collection works alongside temporary exhibitions and public programming. Its published visitor hours are Tuesday through Wednesday and Friday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with Thursday hours extending to 10 p.m.; the museum is closed on Mondays. The three highlighted works are listed as on view in Gallery 2, Gallery 5, and the upper-level Walter Wing.
