Centro Botín in Santander will present 'Yuko Mohri: Entrelazamientos' from 28 March to 6 September 2026, with the exhibition occupying Sala 2. The show is organised by Fundación Botín and Pirelli HangarBicocca in Milan, and it brings together eight of the Japanese artist’s best-known kinetic sculptures and sound installations.

Mohri, who was born in Kanagawa, Japan, in 1980 and lives and works in Tokyo, has built a practice that links visual art and experimental music. According to the museum, her installations translate imperceptible natural phenomena such as humidity, gravity, magnetism and heat into visual and acoustic effects. She combines everyday objects and musical instruments, wiring them into electronic circuits that generate light, sound and movement.

The exhibition title, 'Entrelazamientos', refers to interconnections between objects, energies, sounds and people. Centro Botín says the works have been adjusted by the artist to respond to the building’s architectural and environmental conditions, making the venue part of the exhibition’s structure. Visitors are invited to move through the space and notice how their own movement subtly alters the system’s behaviour.

The museum describes the presentation as one that draws attention to the fragile interaction between natural and artificial structures that shape the environment. The exhibition also reflects Mohri’s interest in linking sound, motion and perception through carefully arranged systems that remain in flux. A cover image on the exhibition page shows 'Piano Solo: Belle-Île', 2024, in installation view at Pirelli HangarBicocca in Milan in 2025.

A monographic catalogue will accompany the exhibition, described by Centro Botín as the most complete volume published so far on Mohri’s practice. The curatorial team includes Fiammetta Griccioli and Vicente Todolí for Pirelli HangarBicocca, and Bárbara Rodríguez Muñoz for Centro Botín.

Mohri’s work has previously appeared in a range of major institutions, including the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Seoul, Artizon Museum in Tokyo, Aranya Art Center in Hebei, Camden Arts Centre in London and the Museum of Contemporary Art, Tokyo. She represented Japan at the 60th Venice Biennale in 2024 and has also taken part in biennials and triennials in Gwangju, Sydney, São Paulo, Glasgow, Hong Kong, Paris, Brisbane, Lyon, Kochi-Muziris and Yokohama. The exhibition page lists general admission at €9, with reduced group tickets at €7 and free entry for Centro Botín Friends and holders of the Pase Cántabro.
