Mostyn Gallery to host recycled-materials bug workshop with Hannah Coates

Cette actualité est affichée en anglais en attendant que sa traduction soit prête.

Mostyn Gallery in Llandudno will host a free family workshop with artist Hannah Coates on 30 July 2026, inviting children and adults to make colourful bugs from recycled materials. The two-hour session is scheduled for 11:30am to 1:30pm and is described by the gallery as a summer holiday activity for families and children.

According to the gallery’s listing, participants will use nature as inspiration to cut, layer and decorate recycled card with colourful pens and reclaimed wrapping papers, producing their own bug or beetle. The event is framed as a hands-on workshop that combines making with environmental awareness and artistic experimentation.

The workshop is open to ages 6 and up. Mostyn says all children must be supervised and accompanied by an adult, and that tickets are required for every member of the group attending, including parents or guardians. Spaces are limited.

The Hannah Coates session is one of several summer holiday activities listed by Mostyn for July and August. The gallery’s programme also includes drop-in workshops making fabric banners, a second bug workshop with Coates on 21 August, and a ‘Memento Mori’ memory-box workshop on 7 and 26 August, alongside the longer-running ‘Summer Holiday Activity – Grow our Sculpture!’ project.

That community sculpture project runs from 21 July to 3 September 2026 and asks visitors to contribute origami flowers or insects to a growing artwork inspired by the gallery’s exhibiting artists, Rafael Pérez Evans and DARCH. Mostyn says the sculpture is a self-led activity open to everyone, with no staff or facilitators on site, and that children should be accompanied by an adult.

The gallery’s what’s-on page also lists the exhibitions ‘DARCH: Heaven in the Ground’ and ‘Rafael Pérez Evans: Brown Notes’, both running from 11 July to 3 October 2026, along with ‘On Making “Sownd”’, which runs from 11 July to 3 October 2026, and the retail showcase ‘Yn yr Ardd’, which runs from 11 July to 26 September 2026. Mostyn’s free-entry programme is based at 12 Vaughan Street, Llandudno, and the gallery is open Tuesday to Saturday, 10:30am to 4:30pm.
