Louise Bourgeois

American, 1911–2010

French-American sculptor and installation artist (1911-2010) who created around 1,500 works across sculpture, painting, and printmaking. Her art explored deeply personal themes including domesticity, family trauma, sexuality, and the unconscious through monumental installations and intricate sculptures. Though associated with Abstract Expressionism and feminist art, she resisted formal categorisation.
