Francisco de Zurbarán was a Spanish Baroque painter renowned for his religious artworks depicting monks, nuns, and martyrs. He is also known for his still-life paintings. Zurbarán is sometimes referred to as the "Spanish Caravaggio" due to his effective use of chiaroscuro.
