Gazelli Art House to Open New Chelsea Gallery in New York with 'Put the Kettle On'

Gazelli Art House will open a new gallery in New York’s Chelsea Arts District this September with an inaugural exhibition titled 'Put the Kettle On'. The show is scheduled to run from 23 September to 31 October 2026 at Gazelli Art House, New York, 545 West 25th Street. An opening reception is set for 22 September, 6–8 PM (EDT), and the gallery says the presentation is opening during Armory Week.

The New York space adds a third city to the gallery’s existing network, joining London and Baku. On its website, Gazelli Art House describes the New York opening as a new chapter for the gallery, and identifies the launch exhibition as a group show. The announcement also makes clear that the program is being framed as an extension of the gallery’s international activities rather than a standalone pop-up or one-off project.

According to the gallery, 'Put the Kettle On' brings together eleven artists across more than six decades. The exhibition is organized around connections between historical and contemporary practice, with works spanning post-war painting and sculpture, pioneering computer art, and current AI- and digital-based work. The listed artists are Agil Abdullayev, Memo Akten, Derek Boshier, Pauline Boty, Harold Cohen, Brendan Dawes, Jake Elwes, Lilly Fenichel, Jann Haworth, Kalliopi Lemos, and Recycle Group.

The cross-generational range places the New York opening in a context that reaches from mid-20th-century art to recent digital experimentation. Gazelli Art House specifically highlights the inclusion of artists associated with post-war painting and sculpture alongside those working with computational systems and AI. The gallery’s presentation suggests a deliberately broad view of continuity, linking earlier forms of abstraction and image-making with technological approaches that have become increasingly visible in contemporary art.

Mila Askarova, Founder and CEO of Gazelli Art House, said in the gallery’s announcement that New York felt like “the natural next step” for the gallery, and that the gallery remains committed to the importance of the physical gallery as a place where artists, ideas and audiences meet. She added that the gallery’s ambition has been to expand rather than replace the traditional gallery model, and said the New York opening would connect programs across London, Baku and New York.

The New York announcement sits alongside the gallery’s other autumn programming, including 'Continuous Abstraction' at The Armory Show, scheduled for 24–27 September 2026 at Stand 424, Javits Center, 429 11th Avenue, New York. That presentation is described as bringing together Gillian Ayres, Alice Baber, Sandra Blow, Lilly Fenichel, Perle Fine, Grace Hartigan, Helen Pashgian and Joan Truckenbrod. But the New York gallery opening itself centers on 'Put the Kettle On', the first exhibition to greet visitors at Gazelli Art House’s new Chelsea address.
