Norman Rockwell Museum Sets 8th Annual 'Art of Brewing' Festival for August 15

Norman Rockwell Museum in Stockbridge, Massachusetts, will host the eighth annual 'Art of Brewing Festival' on Saturday, August 15, from 1 to 4 p.m. The museum describes the event as an afternoon of sampling local and regional beer, cider, distilled drinks and coffee, alongside food from local eateries, lawn games and outdoor seating for visitors bringing blankets and lawn chairs.

The festival is framed as a community gathering with a strong art component. According to the museum’s announcement, attendees will receive a complimentary tasting glass while supplies last, and the event will take place rain or shine. The museum also notes that the festival is open to guests ages 21 and over for tasting, while all ages are welcome for food, games and art appreciation.

The 'Art of Brewing Festival' uses Norman Rockwell imagery as part of its programming and branding. This year’s event will feature Tree House Brewing’s Norman Rockwell 'Liberty Bell (Celebration)' cans exclusively at the festival, and Antimony Brewing’s 'Lunch Break,' featuring Rockwell’s 'Beerman,' will return for a second year. Those beer-related collaborations connect the museum’s stewardship of Rockwell’s work with a locally rooted event centered on tasting and design.

Tickets are priced at $45, or $30 for museum members. Designated driver tickets are $20, and members may receive designated driver admission free of charge. The museum says tickets and a vendor list are available through its event page.

The festival appears alongside a busy late-summer slate at the museum, including exhibitions currently on view such as 'American Stories: Revolution to Rockwell,' 'Norman Rockwell Paints the Presidents,' and 'Norman Rockwell's 323 Saturday Evening Post Covers.' The museum also highlighted recent coverage of 'American Stories: Revolution to Rockwell' in The Boston Globe, quoting a review that called it “an illustrated history” with “surprises many.”

Other upcoming programs listed by the museum include 'Drawing American Stories: A Workshop Series for Beginners and Beyond' on August 12, 19 and 26; 'Ron Ramsay's Berkshire Music Salon at NRM' on August 20 and September 3; 'Norman Rockwell's Stockbridge Walking Tours' on Saturdays in August; and 'Summer Saturdays,' a weekly drop-in artmaking program through the end of the month. The museum’s mailing lists the institution at 9 Glendale Road in Stockbridge.
