Craft Leeds is presenting a two-part exhibition programme in Leeds this summer and autumn, bringing together Hannah Stewart’s award-winning woodturning and Hilke MacIntyre’s printmaking. The display runs from 1 August to 3 October 2026, according to the gallery’s announcement, and is framed as a showcase of contemporary home decor and functional craft.
At the centre of the presentation is Stewart’s collection ‘Turning Connections’, developed under the name Stewart.h.designs. Craft Leeds says Stewart graduated in 2025 from the Contemporary Design Crafts course at Hereford College of Arts and created the debut body of work as a contemporary twist on functional homeware. The collection includes bespoke shapes informed by the woodturning process, along with intricate linework and pattern made through inlaid wood veneers.
The gallery also notes that Stewart received its Spotlight Exhibitor Award when she showed at the Great Northern Contemporary Craft Fair in October last year. In Craft Leeds’s account, the award reflected the team’s response to her use of reclaimed materials and her contemporary approach to traditional woodturning and marquetry techniques. The exhibition description identifies the work as award-winning woodturning and marquetry by an emerging maker.
Running alongside Stewart’s work is a print show by Hilke MacIntyre. Craft Leeds describes MacIntyre as a printmaker, ceramicist and painter whose collection offers a “joyful celebration of daily life” through linocut and woodcut printmaking. The selected images are said to depict gardening triumphs, holiday antics and sunny days out with friends, using bold, limited-edition prints to capture familiar everyday scenes.
The gallery’s framing places both artists within a broader craft-led programme built around making, use and material skill. Craft Leeds says it has been championing UK artists and makers for more than 40 years and identifies itself as a charity established in 1982. Its newsletter also describes the venue as being under Leeds Art Gallery on The Headrow, while the event listing gives the venue as Craft Leeds in Leeds.
The exhibition dates are presented differently for the two strands. Stewart’s ‘Turning Connections’ is included in the announcement for 1 August to 3 October 2026, while MacIntyre’s print show is listed separately as running from 13 June to 10 October 2026. The newsletter presents them together as part of the same seasonal offering, but the dates show that MacIntyre’s presentation opens earlier and continues longer than Stewart’s.
