M+B has announced 'You want to hear echoes', a new presentation of work by Leo Mock, opening by appointment only on August 8, 2026, and running through September 5, 2026 at Casa MB Los Angeles. The exhibition is described as a presentation of new works and marks Mock’s fifth exhibition with the gallery.

The project frames Mock’s practice through the lens of Symbolism. According to the gallery text, the Symbolists sought to paint the ineffable, focusing less on icons than on emotions and psychological states. The exhibition page places Mock in dialogue with turn-of-the-century artists including Odilon Redon, Edvard Munch and Paul Gauguin, noting that Symbolism was defined as imagery for the invisible. M+B says Mock would like to be cataloged among the Symbolists.

The exhibition itself is centered on clouds. The gallery describes 'You want to hear echoes' as “an exhibition of clouds,” underscoring the way Mock’s new work uses that motif to approach what the text calls the indescribable. The online overview also presents an installation view of one of the paintings, 'The stars have grown old', 2026, an oil on linen work measuring 80 x 52 inches.

Mock, born in 1964 in Los Angeles, graduated from ArtCenter College of Design in Pasadena. The gallery’s artist text says his work is concerned with emotions and psychological states, aligning with the exhibition’s Symbolist framing. It also situates him within an ongoing relationship with M+B that stretches across several years and exhibitions.

The gallery notes several recent solo exhibitions in Mock’s career. These include 'We should be home by now' at M+B in Los Angeles, 'There are kisses left undiscovered' at Anton Kern in New York in 2025, 'Blocking your sun' at Anton Kern in 2024, 'Rise and fall of shame' at Galerie Guido W. Baudach in Berlin in 2022, and 'In the jingle jangle morning' at Tif Sigfrids in New York in 2021. His work has also appeared in group exhibitions including NADA Curated and LVS Gallery in Seoul.

The exhibition is listed for Casa MB Los Angeles, with visits available only by appointment. M+B’s website places the project under its forthcoming exhibitions and gives the run as August 8 to September 5, 2026. The gallery’s announcement closes with contact information for further details and a prompt to schedule a viewing online.
